Medical Office Assistants are allied health professionals responsible for various medical office administrative tasks beginning with initial patient contact through final payment. They perform front office functions such as scheduling, communicating (with healthcare professionals, patients and third party payers), handling medical records, and financial management while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
There are FOUR (4) routes of eligibility to take the NCMOA exam. Select your route of eligibility from the following:
Are you a CURRENT NON-HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT in a Medical Office Assistant program from an NCCT (authorized) school?
Are you a GRADUATE from a Medical Office Assistant program from an NCCT (authorized) school within the past FIVE years?
Testing within six (6) months of graduation (date on diploma/transcript)
Testing after six (6) months of graduation (date on diploma/transcript)
You have one year of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Office Assistant practitioner within the past FIVE years.
Have you completed Medical Office Assistant training or its equivalent during U.S. Military service within the past FIVE years?
You are a member [active-duty, retired, veteran] of the United States Armed Forces, or a spouse thereof, and have one year of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Office Assistant practitioner within the past FIVE years.
A current high school student in a Medical Office Assistant program from an NCCT (authorized) school earns a provisional certification. If the required documentation is submitted within twenty-four (24) months, a full certification is awarded. The required documentation:
In order for NCCT to process your application in a timely manner your application and all required documentation must be submitted 14 days prior to your anticipated test date.
Applications and payments are valid for one year from the date of submission to NCCT.
The practice of some professions may be regulated in certain states and it is your responsibility to determine whether this certification meets your state requirements for practice before taking it.
